Irish Franchise Awards presenting the award for Best New Business Model to Sinead Reid, AIL Group for Oasis of Taste

We are delighted to announce that our innovative food hall concept Oasis Of Taste has been awarded ‘Best New Franchise Business Model 2017’ by the Irish Franchise Association at their award ceremony on Friday, May 19th at the Radisson St Helen’s Hotel in Dublin.

The retail format, Oasis Of Taste, that combines our three quick service brands, Abrakebabra, Bagel Factory and O’Briens Cafe under one retail space, sharing customers, costs and profits.

The awards, in association with AIB, recognise excellence in franchising and reward the outstanding achievements of businesses and individuals in the franchise industry.  230 guests attended the black-tie gala event hosted by Broadcaster Jonathan Healy.  The evening was filled with heady anticipation as many familiar faces from the world of franchising were entertained by violinists and digital fire as they waited for the final results to be announced and bespoke crystal awards to be presented.

The judging panel for the 2017 Irish Franchise Awards included Newstalk Business Presenter and former Irish Dragon Bobby Kerr; Greg Swift, head of enterprise at Dublin Local Enterprise Office; Michael Bradley, former CEO of the Irish Franchise Association and Elaine O Regan of the Sunday Business Post.Speaking on the night, Bobby Kerr commended the very high standard of the entries and presentations received and remarked on the huge numbers employed in Ireland through the various franchise systems. All finalists received a framed Certificate of Excellence on the night and winners received a bespoke crystal award and personalised branded video footage with highlights from the night.

Over 28,000 people are now working in the Irish franchise sector engaged in the operations of 2,975 different franchise units across a wide range of sectors ranging from retailing and food service right through to an interesting selection of business-to-business and business-to-consumer services.

The ceremony was an impressive business event reflecting the strength of the franchise sector over the last two decades. David Killeen, Chairman of the Irish Franchise Association said “The awards are an opportunity for us to formally recognise and celebrate the excellent work being done by all franchise operators in growing our sector.  On behalf of the Association I would like to congratulate all entrants and winners with special thanks to our co-sponsors AIB and award sponsors.
